Humans of RASG, similar to Humans of New York, is a verbal snapshot of the people who make up our high school. Each human is asked to speak about themselves at length, and their monologue is recorded and transcribed verbatim. In order to keep it real, nothing is left out.
Shani Mouyal (11th)
Hi, my name is Shani Mouyal. I was born in Miami Beach at the Mount Sinai Hospital. I was born and raised in Surfside, Miami, and still live in the same building, same apartment. I have been at the Hebrew academy since 1st grade, so this is my 11th year. I recently watched the new Spiderman movie so that kind of got me into Marvel, and I’ve been watching all the Marvel movies now. During my free time, I just chill or sometimes make plans with my friends, go to the beach, and watch the sunset. I’m really into books. The Harry Potter series will forever be my favorite book. I recently read a really good book called What She Found in the Woods and I really liked it. I just started Shameless. It’s pretty good; I’m still on the first season though. My high school experience has been interesting. I feel like it’s been different every year. In some aspects, it’s gotten better, but in some aspects, it’s gotten worse. I’m not yet sure what I want to do after high school, but I’ve had a few ideas. I either want to go into the army or maybe do something in psychology, because I find psychology really interesting. I want to get into it. What made me interested in the army is that I heard a lot about it, and I realized I’m part of the Jewish people, I feel like I should contribute in some way. What made me interested in psychology is that I find it interesting how everyone’s mental makeup is so different and there could be so many different aspects to it, so I would like to learn more about it.
