Humans of RASG, similar to Humans of New York, is a verbal snapshot of the people who make up our high school. Each human is asked to speak about themselves at length, and their monologue is recorded and transcribed verbatim. In order to keep it real, nothing is left out.
Samantha Pantoja (10th)
Hi, my name is Samantha Pantoja. I’m in 10th grade, and I have been in Hebrew Academy for 5 years on and off since 5th grade. I’ve been playing the violin since I was 3 years old, and I’ve been playing piano since like 2019. I’ve done multiple competitions, and I’ve won first place at some. Music is my passion; it’s what I love. When I was little, I was kinda forced into the violin because, you know, you have to pick an instrument. But, when I got older, I was listening to classical music, and I really got into that. I decided to pick the piano because that was my favorite instrument. That's really how I got into music; I picked the instrument I actually liked. I also donate all my art to local cafes and they usually take it. I love spending my time doing the things I love like music and art. My whole family is really artistic in that sense, especially my dad's side. He is always painting. Me and my siblings would always compete for his attention. We always try to compete who has better art, so it was kind of a competition for me. I always won, that's for sure. We always used to paint, and after a while, when the competition was over, I really got into art. I like painting, capturing images. I also like photography a lot because it is kinda like the same thing. I like painting everything but specifically people. Not in school because I can't express myself, but like at home I am a punky kinda aesthetic. My favorite genre is for sure punk rock. I really like Cage the Elephant and Lana Del Ray. My music taste is so different. I like so many things. I want to be a biomedical scientist. My mom had diabetes, and I've always wanted to come up with a cure for that. I also don't like seeing people suffer, so I've always wanted to come up with cures for stuff.
