After firmly reestablishing the girls soccer team, there are 16 girls eager to perform their very best for the Hebrew Academy. The Lady Warriors started the season off with a great game on Tuesday against the Greater Miami Adventist Academy Warriors. Despite losing 5-0 to a good team, the athletes had a great time getting back into the soccer season and learned much from the loss.

The relatively inexperienced team is hopeful that the loss was just a result of “first game jitters,” and the team will enter their next game with a vengeance. The boys varsity flag football team also lost their first game, returning to win their next six.

“We had a really good time out there,” said defensive player Rachel Hayes (10th). “We know what we need to do next game to finally get a victory.”

“With a little more practice, the girls can make a huge improvement in next game! Teamwork and communication is truly the key to success,” said new coach Kate Wilson.

Midfielder Yael Bister (9th) summed up the team’s outlook well. “We played well and I’m really proud of us! We just need to rest up and get ready. A few things the team needs to consider next game is the need for good communication on the field. Other than that, we played really well and I’m so glad that we have a soccer season this year! I can’t wait to see what these couple months have in store.”
