This Tuesday the Hebrew Academy varsity flag football team squared up against the Donna Klein Eagles in the program’s inaugural game.
After an abysmal start, the boys were down by a score of 20-0. However, the deficit was no match for quarterback Avi Stein, who threw a touchdown to wide receiver Moshe Goldring to end the first half. Stein would later add two touchdown passes to fellow captain Daniel Yerushalmi, a rushing touchdown, a two-point conversion, and an interception on defense. Despite the late-game heroics, the Warriors fell 27-26 to the Eagles.
While the team starts its season with a loss, coach Rob Erickson feels confident in his squad. He attributes the defeat to lack of experience, which will not be an issue anymore, he says. The team’s next game will be Monday, September 12 at Lake Worth Christian.
