Humans of RASG, similar to Humans of New York, is a verbal snapshot of the people who make up our high school. Each human is asked to speak about themselves at length, and their monologue is recorded and transcribed verbatim. In order to keep it real, nothing is left out.
Moshe Dov Laks (9th Grade)
“My name is Moshe Dov Brecher Laks. I was born and raised in Miami Beach, but I speak with a British accent because my parents are from England. My father’s from Manchester and my mother is from Golders Green. I was in Hebrew Academy from Pre-k to 4th grade, then I switched to Toras Emet, and then sixth and seventh I went to a small Jewish school called Metziyon Academy, and then I went to Nautilus public school. For high school I have come back here. I have many interests. One of them is Star Wars. I am obsessed with Star Wars and Disney. I like high school very much, especially the people here. Many people have crushes on me in this school. I like the story of Star Wars, and the episodes and the saga, but not the new Disney sequel, which is trash. For Disney, I like the movies, the music, and going to Disney World, a lot. Owen Ebner can say I memorized Epcot and Magic Kingdom by heart, like all the locations, where they are and what you do in them. The last time I went to Disney was before summer break and then five years ago. I do not go that often but I remember it like it was yesterday. I have an older brother that lives in Israel and a sister that works for NCSY. I do not have any pets, but I used to have a fish and it died. I can’t have any pets because my mother is allergic to animals, although I would want a rabbit or a turtle. My favorite class is probably history. I love history, like Roman, Greek, and US history. My least favorite subject is Talmud. My favorite color is yellow. I might want to be a doctor, a lawyer, or possibly a pilot. I like to cook. My favorite dish is salmon. My least favorite dish to make is probably challah. I can’t do it. I can’t braid it. Another one of my hobbies is annoying the class chat. Me and a friend of mine just do random topics, we keep on talking over and over again, and some people like to get annoyed at our antics.”
