Humans of RASG

Humans of RASG, similar to Humans of New York, is a verbal snapshot of the people who make up our high school. Each human is asked to speak about themselves at length, and their monologue is recorded and transcribed verbatim. In order to keep it real, nothing is left out.

Ari Caplan (11th Grade)

Hi, I’m Ari Capland and I came from San Diego. I’m originally from New York, and I lived there almost my whole life and then I lived in Israel for three years and then a year in San Diego. I moved from San Diego and I was supposed to move to L.A. or New York, but it didn’t work out, so I came to Florida. I have cousins here. Florida is chill, I love the school, and the kids are really chill. I play football for the school and I’m their cornerback. We actually just won today, 21- 0. It was fun. It’s weird being the new kid, like I don’t know, I was really nervous but after a few days I got really comfortable with everybody. It’s a sick school and I’m looking forward to making friends and having a good time and learning. I also play basketball and I’m really happy here. I started playing sports when I was 13 because my older brother was really into them and I wanted to join. He got me really into it too but I also started playing later than most kids. The first sport I ever played was football. My favorite food is pizza and Miami doesn’t really have good places. Nothing compares to Crown Heights, New York pizza. It’s regular pizza but it’s amazing and has the perfect combination of cheese and sauce. Not too sauced. One thing about me that not a lot of kids know in this school is that I’m making aliyah when I’m older. I would say my favorite color is blue and also I believe that Prison Break is the best show. Nothing can compare to it! I have two dogs: a fat, white, five year-old Labrador named Jax and a three year-old Boston Terrier named Tyler. They’re family to me.
