Hebrew Academy students have adopted the mottos “Live Like Sammy” and “Smile for Sammy” in the wake of his tragic passing to emulate and remember Sammy’s happy demeanor. To honor his memory and continue his legacy, The Warrior Word will now feature a weekly column dedicated to Sammy.
One time, I was very upset and I walked to Sammy, and Sammy was smiling, and I just asked him, “How can you smile all the time? Don’t you get upset?” And he said, “The thing is you have to forget about yourself when you’re with other people because they need you more than you need yourself.” He taught me that I should always smile when I’m around other people and help them and make them happy and focus on myself in my own time. -Abraham Hirsch (10th Grade)
